Visit duration 2 hours
I've been here during my Australasia visit in 2014/2015, i recently discovered this website so i'm currently uploading some of my old visits.
On September 4th 2010, Christchurch was struck by a major Earthquake (6.3 seismic magnitude scale), leaving the city in ruins. Roughly half a year later on February 22nd another earthquake (6.3) hit the city, devastating rebuilding of several historic old building.
These two big quakes resulted in the destruction of almost all historic buildings of Christchurch and the death of hundreds inhabitants.
During my visit to Christchurch in 2015 the devastation was still visible while the entire town was busy with earthquake repairs.
This visit had a sad atmosphere around it and might not count as Urban Exploring, however the devastating impact nature has on manmade structures is clearly visible and makes for some sad abandoned building pictures.
