One of many abandoned Mental Asylums covering Ireland, but unfortunately this seems to be the one in the worst condition. Built 1865and suffered terrible overcrowding, with a past nurse once calling it "a vision of hell". Abandoned 2002. I first visited in May 2017 and it was in a tolerable state, but the ease of access and complete lack of security have combined to make no windows intact, graffiti covering every wall and fire damage to the main hall. There is however some redeeming features and rooms intact. No relics left. Dispite my negative comments on this spot was one of my first big Urbex locations and is definitely worth a quick look if you're in the area, but if you're planning a big trip go a short trip further to the X Asylum instead.
