Vad är då historien bakom SJ:s upplagsplatser?

I all enkelhet kom man på att elektriska tåg var obrukbara om de berövades sin elektricitet, alltså gällde det att se till att den elektrifierade järnvägen kunde förses med ström även under ofärdstider.
Elektrifieringen av landsbygden skedde parallellt med järnvägens tillkomst på orten så både civilt liv och statens transportsystem var i riskzonen om den lede fiende skulle klippa av sladden mellan kraftverk och elförbrukaren.
Att bygga dem kan inte ha varit ett diskret företag men eftersom satelliter inte existerade och spaningsplan behövde vara lika synliga från marken som skyddsobjektet behövde vara synligt för dem, så existerade risken att synas, vid bygget av dem.
Anledningen till att reservkraftstationerna (läs generatorer på järnvägsvagn) skulle vara mobila på järnväg var att generatorer, omformare och transformatorer som var dyr och komplicerad utrustning lätt kunde flyttas till behövande ort. Genom mobiliteten kunde den tekniska utrustningen monteras och underhållas centralt och senare förflyttas samt att om det skulle osa bränt av krut från fi:s kanoner kunde utrustningen förflyttas till säkrare plats (av ett diesellok) för att inte falla i fiendens händer.
Med samhällsutvecklingen fram till våra dagar förändrades behoven och kraven, idag skulle det förmodligen räcka med att bränna av fiberkabelstammen vid Öresundsbron så hade större delen av Sveriges kontakt med omvärlden klippts av och vårt rop på hjälp hade inte ens nått cyberrymden.


What then is the story behind SJ's warehouses?

In all simplicity it was concluded that electric trains were unusable if they were deprived of their electricity, thus it was important to ensure that the electrified railway could be supplied with electricity even during off-peak times.
The electrification of the countryside took place in parallel with the railroad's arrival in the city so that both civilian life and the state's transport system were at risk if the leading enemy were to cut the cord between power plants and the electricity consumer.
Building them may not have been an unobtrusive company, but because satellites did not exist and the reconnaissance plan needed to be as visible from the ground as the protection object needed to be visible to them, the risk of being visible existed in their construction.
The reason that the backup power stations (read generators on railway cars) would be mobile on railways was that generators, inverters and transformers that were expensive and complicated equipment could easily be moved to the place of need. Through the mobility, the technical equipment could be mounted and maintained centrally and later moved and that if it were burnt by gunfire from fi cannons, the equipment could be moved to a safer place (by a diesel locomotive) so as not to fall into enemy hands.
With the development of society up to our days, the needs and requirements changed, today it would probably suffice to burn off the fiber cable trunk at the Öresund Bridge, so most of Sweden's contact with the outside world had been cut off and our cry for help had not even reached cyberspace.
